A leading champion for open government in Mississippi has tapped one of MMQN’s own.

Will Bardwell, an attorney with the firm since 2012, has been selected to join the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Center for Freedom of Information. His term begins immediately.

“The only two jobs I’ve ever had are newspaper reporter and lawyer, and in both professions, you learn very quickly the importance of a transparent government,” Bardwell said. “Unfortunately, those in the halls of power do not always agree. For 15 years, the Mississippi Center for Freedom of Information has led the fight against forces who would rather see Mississippi governed from behind locked doors than out in the open. I am honored to join that fight.”

Prior to joining MMQN, Bardwell served as a law clerk at the Mississippi Supreme Court and at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. Bardwell also ran an appellate law practice as a solo practitioner from 2009-2011, and before going to law school, he spent two years at The Meridian Star newspaper.
